and graduated March, 1987, with the degree of Bachelor of Education (chemistry).
Joined a graduate school of Kyoto University (Faculty of Agriculture),
April, 1987, and graduated March, 1992 (under the supervision of Professor
Kenji Soda, Institute of Chemical Research, Kyoto University).
Received a Ph.D. (Doctor of Agriculture) in May, 1992 from Kyoto University for a thesis entitled:
"Structure and Function of Bacterial D-Amino Acid Aminotransferase"
